I have been selling on Carousell for at least 7 years, with 500+ positive reviews.

Even though Carousell is just a platform for buyers and sellers, hence the experience gotten from there from transactions depend on the users themselves.

BUT Carousell customer service is atrocious. Every time you contact them for help regarding a transaction or a user's behaviour, they copy-paste a default response that says their platform has no control over transaction experience, to just post a review etc. Or if you told them a user just left a terrible review for no reason whatsoever, that copy-paste default answer is the response.

Too many times the buyer themselves are scammers, buying your authentic item which they check on the spot, or you offer to go boutique with them to verify authenticity but they refuse, then leave the place. And then contact you days later to claim you sold a fake item.

These buyers most likely swapped out your authentic item for a fake, then demand refund for the fake, hence leaving them with the authentic item, PLUS your money. If you refuse to refund cos they checked long enough on the spot, or refuse to go boutique with you to verify authenticity, the buyer just leaves you bad review, or worst, make a police report over nonsense. What Carousell does? Default copy-paste answer. "Reviews are there to maintain integrity of platform" but the buyer themselves are cheating you!

My account is now restricted because of such a buyer, my years of building rep is gone because of that. Still waiting for Carousell response since a week ago. Submitted proof and all.

Those using this platform, don't get your hopes too high. It's basically you protecting yourself.

This website is a joke

This website is a joke.
This website deliberately blocks people who live outside of Singapore, Hongkong and Thailand. I chose where I live, and used the exact regional number, and it always warns me the phone number doesn't match. I have no other choice but to send message to one of the seller. Some seller they have this green window on the right side of each item where you can send message to seller. I used my email and created password, and seller got my message, I was be able to register with that email address and log in to chat with the seller, just for two minutes, after that the system just blocked me and categorized my action as "violated their rules", ok, hello?! How am I suppose to buy on this website if I can't register at the first place?! IS this a joke or something? Looks like basically they don't want too many people from North America to register. I reply to the email they block me, all they could send to me is warning in the email and they actually don't have real-person service. I can feel it in the email they sent. Very unpleasant experience and no one is willing to help.

Avoid Carousell

I'll keep my review as short as possible to save you time, there are enough customer experiences here that affirms Carousell has very poor customer service. My advice? DO NOT count on Carousell to help you when there's a dispute between Buyer and Seller, they won't do jack 5H1T. Buy and Sell at your own risk.

Unreliable and ridiculous customer service

My account was suddenly suspended as Carousell suspected me of having a second account which has unresolved transactions. I only have one account, had never heard of the other account but am somehow banned because of their suspicion despite lack of any proof. After some online searching it turns out this is somewhat common in Hong Kong.
What was ridiculous was the fact that customer service asked me to handle the unresolved transaction before my account would be reinstated.
1. I am not the owner of that account, and there is no way for me to prove this.
2. Even if I were, the other account too was suspended (I checked and saw that the account was no longer searchable), how would the other person settle any transaction without access to their account?
3. I was in the middle of negotiating a deal, and it was only pure luck that I decided to pay a seller deposit the next day as he replied quite late at night. Had I already paid the deposit before account suspension, I would have lost that money and had no way to communicate with seller. Suddenly suspending people's accounts means less consumer protection. Carousell could have disabled new chats or new listings, but to outright suspend an account leaves users no way to communicate when they have already paid deposit!

Unfair and Lousy Customer Service

I reported to Carousell yesterday, 21/1/21, about a seller who has cheated me by selling a tv console that's different from her listing. First, let me explain further what the bad experience is. I bought a tv console from a seller on a preorder basis. Prior to placing my order, I asked the seller if the top part of the tv console is made of engineered marble. I also told her that I wanted dark grey. There's a delay in the shipment from seller's supplier but seller failed to inform me until I pmed her. So had to wait for another week for it to arrive. Seller contacted me that the item has arrived in Sg and even said she had arranged for delivery on the same day in the evening around 8 pm. So come 8 pm but no delivery. Contacted seller to ask about it and she said item to be delivered to her place first! WTH! Then contacted me again to inform that the legs were not the colour that I wanted and asked if I mind about it. Having no choice, I said okay. The worst part was when I received the item. It wasn't engineered marble and it was dark brown. It was clearly marble-like laminate! There were scratches and finger prints everywhere on the top part. So I contacted seller and even showed her the pictures. Seller insisted that it was engineered marble even it's so obviously that it's not! WTH! Invited her to come to my place to see for herself. At first, she said okay but then changed her mind and said that she didn't need to go over to prove her 'honesty'! So I told her that I would report the matter to Carousell. She went quiet after that. Then I met with another disappointment. I was expecting Carousell to investigate my case but all they said was that they couldn't do anything and even hoped that I could understand them! So who's going to understand me, the one who was clearly cheated?!!! They didn't even bother to look through my conversations with the seller. If they had bothered to do that, they could see that the seller has cheated me. I even gave the pictures and a video of the item but still they didn't bother to do anything! I was really pissed with how they handled my case. I'm considering to delete my account soon.

Be careful

I bought an item from Carousell on a site for janinemiqui. I was asked to transfer money directly into her bank account. As it was a small amount, despite being cautious, I transferred the money on 20th December 2020. Despite contacting the seller many times, the item did not arrive. It was unfortunate that the item I had ordered was something I really wanted, the small cost was secondary. The only way to communicate was by chat, and then, just after Christmas, nothing. I kept trying to contact the seller and eventually contacted Carousell complaints. They were sympathetic but apparently have little control over the seller. Eventually, after sending another unanswered chat, I threatened legal action. My goods arrived having been posted 3 days before despite the seller telling me (by chat) that the parcel had been sent two weeks ago. I won't be doing any dealings with this particular seller and warn anyone reading this to be extremely careful. I will have second thoughts about the whole Carousell organisation.

Atrocious Customer Service

I am a subscriber of their pro business account service. However when I emailed in to enquire about the absence of a feature (which allows you to disable carousell's protection for payment mode) that all other subscriber seem to enjoy, I was met with incredulously incoherent responses from their staff, Lay.

Over a period of two months since I raised my issue, Lay communicated the following:
1) Carousell's protection is default and cannot be disabled even though the option to do so is there
2) When evidence was provided to contradict point 1), he suggested the typical software fix which involves restarting your PC/phone or changing browsers. These did not help.
3) When I feedback about point 2), Lay went back to talk about point 1)
4) This went around in circles where the final straw came when Lay suggested I check with Apple store on this. WTH does Apple HAS TO DO WITH CAROUSELL'S ISSUE?
5) Feeling pissed off, I asked for a refund for the payment I have made for my subscription but was dump with a typical cut & paste wall of text which states that it is non-refundable.

Each nonsensical reply from Lay took 5 DAYS.

Now, you offered a service but did not manage to deliver it completely. And when the customer asks for a refund/partial refund, you said no. Does that make Carousell a sammer company by itself?

Pay for their service at your own risk.

The Ultimate Failure of Online Shopping

I was told zillion times on how hopeless and unreliable is Carousell but I have to buy a particular products which is only available here, most unfortunately. Then the whole nightmare begins: seller with really bad attitude and negligence in handling the transaction; customer service which only sent you the "copy n paste" useless response; an utterly useless Protection Scheme which charges user extra yet provides zero protection.....bottom line is: I have never encountered such inefficient online platform from my decades of online shopping experience. I will never never use Carousell again and hope people seriously think deeper before stepping into this hopeless blackhole.

Horrible experience with Carousell Support

So my dear friends who are reading this do not waste your time selling any item on Carousell. The most confusing and contradictory site. I posted a picture of some fishes in their aqua community and my account was suspended and their logic was hilariously lame

The support staff email me stating the aquarium community have different admins and they are different but they are inside caraousell! And they ask me to contact these admins from where? After suspending accounts they ask me to contact admins lol
COVID truly has affected some people in distinct ways.

Such a lousy system running by bunch of…

Such a lousy system running by bunch of incompetent monkeys. My account got suspended for no reason. We were trying to bring down those scalpers who are trying to sell graphic cards, CPUs at higher price. We reported them but what did they do? They suspended our accounts instead.. Until today I haven't done anything wrong other than reporting those asswipes.

Carousell is one of the worst app around

My ad was removed for duplicates. But it wasn't a duplicate as I simply removed an old non-performing ad with a new one. And they seemed it like a crime. Does it make sense at all?

Counterfeits free to roam freely while genuine sellers got their Authentic watches postings removed

For years I can see many Noob Factory Rolex, Fake Tags and Fake Omega Seamasters for sale and could never be brought down. But selling an authentic vintage Omega Speedy reduced got closed down for being fake. I don't know how the hell carousell works. Stay away from them as they're biased, lacks knowledge for their customer and products.
